home ownership program

guidelines and application

Neosho Area Habitat for Humanity partners with low-income families to provide decent, affordable housing. Our program of home ownership provides a “hand up” not a “hand out,” with the completed home deeded to the family and a 20-30 year, zero or minimal interest mortgage to be repaid.

Current submission deadline: TBA

We have two potential financing options: (1) USDA 502 Program and (2) traditional Habitat financing. We will help you pick the path to homeownership that works best for your home build.

The USDA’s 502 Direct Loan Program offers affordable, low-interest loans to eligible low-income individuals and families to help them purchase or repair homes in rural areas. Through this program, borrowers can access financing with no down payment and favorable terms, making homeownership more accessible. Neosho Area Habitat for Humanity provides loan packaging services to assist applicants with navigating the USDA’s process, ensuring all necessary documentation is submitted and requirements are met. Our Certified Loan Packager, is dedicated to helping families secure the funding they need to achieve their dream of homeownership, all while fostering stronger, more resilient communities.
